A food (sake and tofu!) tour in Sawai, Okutama
This is a 4 hour stay in Sawai, Okutama, which is located in a mountainous area (a part of a national park of Japan: the Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park) in western Tokyo, mainly for the long-standing sake brewery there: walking around in the garden of the sake brewery and its neighboring areas full of nature, visiting a museum dedicated for traditional Japanese combs and ornamental hairpins, having a healthy, nice tofu set meal at one of the restaurants in the site, joining the sake brewery tour guided by a sake brewer, and tasting a wide variety of different sake from the brewery (15 types regularly available!). A lot of cheers!
Tour price: (tax included)
8,500 JPY per person (of a group of 4 people)
7,500 JPY per person (of a group of 5 people)
*The transportation expenses are extra, and for example, it costs about 1,840 JPY to make a round trip from Shinjuku by trains.
*All (sakes and a meal during the tour) are included in the tour price!
*If the number of people are less than 4 contact me for the price
*It is also possible to make a personalized tour to meet your budget.
Daily except for Mondays (reservation in advance is necessary)
*Basically the sake brewery tour is available except for Mondays. But it is very popular and the number of people who can join the tour is limited. So it is better to make your reservation as soon as possible when you have decided the day you would like to join the tour. Especially, the tour for Saturdays and Sundays will become fully booked relatively quickly, and in that case, I will have to ask you to choose another day.
Departure time and point:
At 11:00 a.m. in front of the ticket gate of JR Sawai station
*or arrangements can be made to travel together from your hotel at the cost of transport.
What we will have during the tour:
More than 5 different types of sake, and tofu lunch!
Please give me a call or email me for the availability of the tour for the day you want to join!
Inquiry a day before the tour or sometimes even on the day is also possible depending on the availability of the tour.
Examples of the sakes which you will taste during the tour:
"Genshu": undiluted sake when bottled
"Daiginjo": sake brewed using rice grains 50% or more of which have been polished
"Premium Daiginjo": sake brewed using rice grains "Yamada Nishiki" (the king of rice for sake brewing)
Those who join the tour will receive a detailed written description, with a record of each shop by shop, along with the tour.
