The Nobel Laureate Professor Jean Dausset established MURS (Universal Movement for Scientific Responsibility) in Paris in 1982, and asked to make a Japanese branch under the Chairmanship of Professor Okamoto at the Second International Bioethics Seminar in Fukui in 1992. Since then MURS Japan has joined IBESF three times (1993, 1995 and 1997).
This year we planned to have public lectures supported by MURS Japan. Professor Okamoto, the Honorable President of IBESF7, will talk on Education and mind for scientific responsibility, Reverend Kimura of Eiheiji Temple talks on the Buddhist Mind on the occasion of the 600 year anniversary of the Grand Reverend Dogen. Then Emeritus Professor Fujita, Director of the Pasteur Institute, and Professor Yamori of Kyoto University will talk on bioethical issues from science and technology for the general public.
Please enjoy both the science and culture in Fukui for further development of science, technology and society.
